What is Clubhouse?
Clubhouse is a new IOS only social media platform app which is taking the social media world by storm. Currently, clubhouse is in beta and is still invite only. It is not yet open to the public. With clubhouse, you get the typical profile with a profile picture and profile bio; there are no links and bios yet except for a link to your Twitter account and a link to your Instagram account.
Once you are on clubhouse, you are asked to either follow people who you know or search for people who you are interested in following, and the app asks you what your interests are with this information.
This allows clubhouse to begin to connect to you and tailor your connections and conversations so that you could begin to spend time with your interests and or people in different rooms, areas.
Clubhouse Rooms
The clubhouse rooms can be thought of as a zoom meeting except you have these conversations without video. So it is basically multiple people in a room who are discussing certain things that pertain to the rooms’ subject, although often rooms will go off topic. The idea is to build a community of people that you converse with regularly, inside of the clubhouse rooms.
There are two positions which you can be in. It is similar to a talk show. You either will be in the audience listening to the speakers’ on stage or you are in the audience listening to thje speakers on stage.
To become a speaker you must digitally raise your “hand” or be invited to the stage from the audience by what is called a moderator. A moderator is a person or group of people who control the room. The moderators will have what is called a green asterisk next to their name, which lets you know that they are indeed the moderators of the room. They have the power to bring you up on stage and also control your microphone once you are on the stage. You are then able to unmute your microphone and join the discussion in the room.
Should You Join Clubhouse
Clubhouse is a very entertaining app for many different reasons. Clubhouse is a great app to make new connections which are tailored towards your interests and or needs. In example, there are plenty of rooms that are focused on business growth, entrepreneurship and making money. In these rooms. You are sure to connect with either entrepreneurial minded people or even your favorite business superstars.
Celebrities such as Grant Cardone, Daymond John from Shark Tank and Barbara Corcoran and many other celebrities have created rooms in which to share their knowledge with everyday people and new entrepreneurs. I personally have witnessed multi thousand dollar deals being made via the clubhouse. It’s been quite an interesting. Asked to watch develop, and it has been a positive experience for very many uses.
Another set of rooms which you may be interested in is social media engagement rooms. These rooms are designed to increase your Instagram growth or your Twitter growth and basically are what’s known as “pods” that will help you to create engagement to your social media in an effort to increase your metrics, such as followers and or social media posts, likes and comments.
Problems On Clubhouse
While there are many positive uses for the clubhouse, because it is still invite only, it is still somewhat quiet. I believe that once the clubhouse is open to the general public, the amount of spam and low quality users is definitely going to increase exponentially. And that is not the only problem with clubhouse.
Lately, there has been what’s known as ghosts on the app lately. These clubhouse ghosts are able to hack into a room to listen to the conversation and even speak over everyone, including the moderators. They are called ghosts, because their accounts cannot be seen in the room. Therefore, the moderators cannot control their microphones and or the actions that they take within the rooms.
This clubhouse ghost problem is similar to what was known as Zoom jacking, where uninvited users would join Zoom meetings and cause trouble. So this is similar to zoom jacking and it is a fairly new problem to clubhouse. This literally has only begun within the past 24 to 48 hours.
I’m certain that clubhouse will figure out the hack in time and will repair this very quickly. But time for the time being. These ghosts have really brought down the enjoyment level in the app as they often are, creating useless noises for insulting clubhouse users.
How To Get A Clubhouse Invite
The way to get a clubhouse invite is by signing up and waiting for someone else to allow you or invite you in to clubhouse. There is a waiting list. If you are interested in getting onto clubhouse, ask your social media connections if they have an invite. Chances are there may be an invite available to you at this time.
